6.9 7.2 Earthquake in Baja California

Felt it here in L.A. as a slow shaking. (I was busy playing Wii and didn’t realize there was a quake until Yoshi told me twice that the building was shaking. And it wasn’t until I stopped playing and stood up that I realized that we were STILL swaying.)

  1. Thanks for posting, we thought we were nuts — 5 min. ago here in Scottsdale, AZ we felt off kilter, and all of the hanging chains in the apartment were swinging.

  2. Felt it in Silverlake, went on forever, so slooooow. A bit sickening actually!

  3. Felt it in West Hollywood. Thought it was the Bloody Mary’s from Easter Brunch wreaking havoc…

  4. Nope, but I think it was because I was outside walking the dog. It was certainly felt inside my house, which was reportedly creaking. However, I did suddenly become dizzy when we were walking, so that must be when it happened. (North Hollywood)

  5. Felt in Camarillo around the same time – rolling, and water in the pool created a tide, moving from east to west then back again.

  6. Very mellow swerve in Santa Monica, building belly-danced lightly but for a long 2-3 minutes, all chimes chanting but no damage, cats on alert but didn’t run under the bed like they normally do.

  7. Felt it in Claremont. It was a long one. Pool water dancing; chandeliers and ceiling fans shook.

  8. We are in Placentia and it was like standing in a rowboat in a gentle swell. I lasted for way too long. It was hard to believe it was an earthquake as it was not so much a shaking or a jolt as a gentle swaying motion.

  9. Yeah, my two story house starting swaying here in Phoenix, AZ. Sort of creepy feeling one in AZ. I haven’t felt them since I was a kid in L.A.

  10. We are in Placentia and it was like standing in a rowboat in a gentle swell. It lasted for way too long. It was hard to believe it was an earthquake as it was not so much a shaking or a jolt as a gentle swaying motion.

  11. Was outside puttering in the yard and didn’t feel a thing. Except the pool all of a sudden had a tidal wave, sloshing water out of itself for about 25 minutes. Still not settled down nearly an hour later. Only earthquakes can cause that.

  12. neighbors came outside and said they felt the earth shake out here in surprise, arizona.

  13. OMG!!! felt it in Newport Beach…very long, and very strong!!! Chandeliers almost fell…frames fell…pool water wouldnt stop dancing….

  14. Was very strong here in San Diego, walls and window rattling, lights swaying, books etc fell down.

  15. Felt it in downtown la! Was fast asleep woke up with my bed moving too fast side to side!!!

  16. i’m in ontario california, my family was inside the house- it was rolling and we all huddled under a hallway thing, probably not the safest but we stayed together because it was so strange just swaying so slow. i actually felt kind of dizzy. ceiling fans & hanging objects shook.

  17. Felt the quack here in Santee. We got the kids and the animals outside. Once outside we continued to feel the long rolling. Very unerving.

  18. We felt it here in Chandler AZ. The cats were freaked. We are in a second story unit and our building was swaying and shaking.

Our blinds rattled and shook and my husband’s desk chair rolled back (with him in it).

  19. Was having sex with my wife when it hit, I needed that little extra help. Hopefully I can keep her away from the news channels so she will think it was all my doing !

  20. Felt it at the buffet at the aqua caliente casino in paln springs area…right before dessert! Not running out of the building till I got my choc covered strawberries! Big rolling back and forth!!!

  21. Banning, CA Felt it long and strong here, lighting fixture swinging, plate holder bouncing against wall. Scarry

  22. Pico Rivera CA. I was napping in bed and it gently woke me and my wife. We lay silent for what seemed like a couple of minutes of rolling waves. Felt like I had too much to drink, but I am as sober as a preacher. It was actually kinda nice now that I think about it. None of that nasty jerky feeling and so quiet too. Hope everyone is all right.

  23. im in manhattan beach (just south of santa monica/la ect. anyways i was in my room and my dog started barking and i thought the washing machince or sumthing was like exploding lol anyway i realized after a second it was a earthquake did the triangle saftey method(safest way if u wanna look it up) and hid there with my dog till it was over because it was so long i figured that it was going to get bigger and centered near me anyway i feel so bad for the people in baja not to mention its easter…

  24. I was geting into my SUV and started to shake well! I look allover and my kids where walking ion parking lot, the got scared and ran I stared to call love ones!
My SUV large felt shaking a lot! I wonder? It’s not that windy!!!

  25. Felt it here in north hollywood it was pretty long I thought I was because I’m still drunk from last night..but we just need 2b ready

  26. Felt it here in mission viejo parked at a stoplight. Very long and freaky! Watched the ground literally move and the stoplights sway.

  27. Another minor couple of sways in my 3-story building just happened 3:17 pm. I never blog but I am worried about my diminished ability to walk (recently off crutches)if this series of quakes snaps off a big one. I am going to buy a thick rope or mountain tech rope. Or smoke dope. I don’t know. I am kinda skittish now.

  28. I was inside with my mother and my sister’s boyfriend, when he asked if there was an earthquake, then i looked at the ceiling lamp and saw it moving, immediate we went to the doorway and everyone from the building came outside. There was kids playing in the pool, their parents told them to come out and as soon as they came out, the water moved strongly and started to come out of the pool. It felt like we were on a swing going back and forth, it was pretty scary.

  29. I’m in Las Flores Canyon – 2.5 miles up from PCH – and felt a short (20 second) but intense shaking – thought it might be a sonic boom from the plane overhead…but went on tooooo long!

Windows rattled, big thud and then shaking – glad it’s over! Hope the people further south are okay.

  30. Hey “The Viking”…

One more bullsh*t comment and The Dean is gonna pull a Mr. Freeze on you and your entire Nordic village!

    Happy Trading,

    The Dean of Penny Stocks

  31. another temblor just happened 4:21. I am out of here to a one story house here in Oceanside, CA. Good luck all around. The Easter bunny must really be hip hopping down the bunny trail. Good thing the eggs are hard…

  33. It was scary here in Yuma, AZ. Water splashing out of the pool. House shaking, window distorting, cars and trucks rolling back and forth. 4-5 aftershocks strong as well.

  34. Felt in it Phoenix AZ, thought something was wrong with my equilibrium as I couldn’t stop rocking back and forth. Lasted at least 30 seconds or so, then a family member came in and said water was slooshing around in the pool and she had felt dizzy too. Very weird.
