Which Wine Goes With Kimchi?

I’ve been AWOL here for about a week as I prep to move just a little bit further west, but I had to take a break from packing to tell you about this great upcoming event…

Kogi BBQ, the hottest restaurant in L.A. without a fixed address, is going to be joining Colorado Wine Company to create a fantastic food & wine tasting.

This is going to be a hot ticket, so follow me past the jump to get all the details you’ll need…

Colorado Wine Company in Eagle Rock opened in early 2005.  In addition to having a wide selection of wines from around the world (focusing on bottles under $25,) they’ve created a great place where anyone with any level of wine knowledge can walk in, get personal service (and maybe a little education,) try a couple of wines, and find just the right bottle.  Wine can be a little intimidating, so that comfortable environment is fantastic.  They also do organized weekly tastings on Fridays and Sundays, pairing their wine with gourmet cheeses from another Eagle Rock favorite, Auntie Em’s Marketplace.

If you haven’t heard about Kogi BBQ, where have you been? It’s a taco truck. That serves Korean BBQ.  Prepared by a world-class chef.  This has become one of the hottest restaurants (literally) all over town.  As seen in the photo above, people line up around the block to get these tacos and burritos. I’ve known people to follow them from city to city, depending on the night. You’ll find their weekly location schedule at the website, or you can follow them on Twitter to get updates on where they are and will be. Want to see the food? Check out Tales of an LA Addict or Kogi’s own stream on Flickr. Be careful, though; just creating those links has my mouth watering.

Now these two great tastes will taste great together.  On Thursday, February 26 Kogi will park their kitchen in front of Colorado Wine Company for a food & wine tasting event.  One all-inclusive price will get you a sample plate and specifically paired flight of wines.  More details (wine selection, menu, price) have been promised for the near future, but the time to act is now. CoWineCo is only accepting the first 100 RSVPs  at [email protected] or (323) 478-1985.  This event is sure to sell out, so make sure you’re on the list now.  I’ll see you there!
