Classic Eats #2 Today: Downtown Delights

Quick reminder for our Classic Eats #2 this evening:

4:00 – 5:00 Unofficial get together to gawk at gorgeous Union Station. (Sun sets at approx. 5:15pm) I’ll be at the entrance between 4 and 4:15 with an “LA Metblogs” sign.

5:00 Meet at Traxx (the bar section) for a cocktail and meet and greet of Metblog Authors and Readers.

6:30 or 7:00 We’ll mosey over to Phillipe’s (it’s about 1 1/2 blocks away) and have some Classic Eats. Bring your umbrellas!

Classic Eats #3 is now scheduled for February 28th.

Looking forward to seeing you all there tonight and thanks for voting.

Maps and other details for tonight’s action after the jump.

Union Station (if you are not coming by train) is at:
800 N Alameda St
Los Angeles, CA 90012

Here are directions to Union Station.

There is parking at Union Station and probably street parking surrounding the area.

Here is a map of Union Station itself. Notice that Traxx Bar is separate from the restaurant. Between 4 and 4:15 I’ll be at the Main Entrance with an “LA METBLOGS” sign. Then I’ll be walking around taking photos and drinking in the gorgeous-ness of the 70 year old station.

Here is the Traxx website again.

Philippe’s is located about one block from Union Station.

  1. I have not eaten roast beef in many years, and I’m not even sure I’d be able to. Does Philippe’s serve anything else? Maybe a nice Tofrench Dip?

  2. They have turkey, or are you a strict veggie? They also have cheese sandwiches and tuna salad and other salady salads and soups and all kinds of things. You will not go hungry!

  3. It was a blast! Thanks for the pics, Mr. Hook! I can’t believe I forgot the hot mustard on my sandwhich! (slaps hand to forehead).

Can’t wait for Classic Eats #3!

  4. Donna and I had such a good time- and it wasn’t just the drinks at Traxx. We are really looking forward to the next one! Perhaps Pie and Burger, followed by drinks and belly-dancing at Burger Continental? Anyways, you were all so nice: thanks for making it such a fun night.

  5. Once again, that was a way fun Classic Eats evening. Thanks again to Julia for putting it together. Those are great pics from mrhooks. I have a feeling some other, sillier ones will follow.

  6. I had a great time meeting everyone at the Classic Eats evening. Thanks for inviting me. I even found veggie fare! You did a great job putting it together, Julia and I look forward to the next one.
