As if a new solar-powered Ferris wheel and a world record motorcycle jump weren’t enough, the Santa Monica Pier and its surrounding area will become a giant multi-media art installation and musical performance space next Saturday night, July 19. The all-night art event, called “Glow,” was inspired by the annual Nuit Blanche (“White Night” or “sleepless night”) festival in Paris.
The list of art and music events at this year’s Glow includes light shows, projection screens, KCRW DJs, participatory art, drumming and dance groups, glow sticks on the beach, ambient sound, a poetry boat, percussion synched with the Ferris wheel, and much more.
Will Santa Monica’s Glow surpass Paris? Will it best Burning Man? Come by next Saturday night, any time of night, and find out for yourself.
