Missing: One kitty carcass

My neighbor Shane’s little Pekingese escaped and did a little a walk about this morning. He returned with this little “gift” and proudly dropped it off for Shane.  We both recognize the tail, it belongs to this feral cat that has been terrorizing a variety of pets in the neighborhood for a while.  Our suspicion is that a coyote got it.  Unlike Helen who reports poisoning of cats in her neighborhood, our problem has always been coyote’s coming down to feast on the local pets.  Just a hazard of being so close to the foothills.

We just want to know where the carcass is before it starts to stink. (pic after the jump)

  1. I wish this picture had some kind of warning on it. I’d prefer to come to a sight like this without seeing a part of a dead cat. It seems gratuitous.

Your only reaction when you see a portion of a dead cat is that your worried about the smell? How cold are you?

  2. yeah, definitely a heartless bastardo that frazgo. my first thought would be to raise the village and march up to the mountains with torches and various blunt objects and take care of the coyotes…
or at least tell them of the starving kids in africa.

  3. Bob,

I am rather harsh about dealing with dogs killing cats; it is a demeanour that has in the past prompted me to pull a fence post and its cement anchor out of the ground.

Nevertheless, I am curious why you would make such a statement as you did when it were clearly stated: “We just want to know where the carcass is before it starts to stink. (pic after the jump).” Surely that were a warning, at least for the literate.

  4. I’m under the impression that the dog just FOUND the tail; that the cat was actually killed by the coyote.

    READ, people, read.

  6. Frazgo, Please save the tail for me. I need to make a Davy Crockett hat. That is, if Shane will part with it. More than likely a coyote killed the cat, not the dog.

  7. sarbal…the tail went out with the trash today. Had to get rid of it as Shane’s cat was totally freaked out. Still no carcass but two more cats got it from coyotes this weekend.
