Archiving Angeles (AA): The First Elevator

A saloon, music house, shoe store, drug store, hat store, cafe, restaurant and doctor’s office could all be found within walking distance. A newsstand sold papers from Paris, Dublin, London, Edinburgh, Vienna, and Berlin.

It was the Nadeau Hotel on First & Spring, home of the first electric elevator to be installed in Los Angeles.

The year was 1905.
