There are still a couple of months before the Renaissance Faires and Festivals get into high gear here in So. Cal. Why not use that time wisely by learning how to properly use that broadsword you drag around with you summer after summer?
The Academy of Arms in Burbank has evening classes in English Broadsword, German and Italian Longsword and Saturday afternoon practices in a park setting. “This practice is where we perfect our techniques and engage in supervised bouting.” (No one likes to be unsupervised when bouting, I find.) As you improve your technique, you also get to choose a personal weapon to study: quarterstaff*, sword and dagger or sword and buckler.
No one likes to run into a Black Knight unprepared.

*I’ve included a quarterstaff training video after the jump.
(Hey, what do I know, I’ve only been to one Ren-type faire, ages ago, and all I really cared about was the Falconry.)
