Los Angeles will no longer allow good trash to go to waste. Landfills? So 1987.
According to the Daily Breeze, the Mayor wants to move away from dumping garbage in our own backyard by 2011. All that junk we throw out will be sent to recycling centers and converted into alternative energy. It could make the city up to $100 million annually, and make Earth not hate us so much. It all sounds very Trekkie, and it’s only a matter of time before we start replicating sushi in the office microwave and beaming into each other’s homes.
If you’re interested in how this plan will shake out, the bureau of sanitation will hold a conference from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, 1201 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles.
