Apartment fire near La Brea and Wilshire on 6th St. east of Detroit. [map]
My camera is kaput and I’ve got a great view of it from the 20th Floor here at Sunset and Vine. Is anyone nearby snapping photos? (Yes! Roxanne was!)
UPDATE 3:50pm: LAFD reports a knockdown time at 3:45pm – no reports of injury. “La Brea at Detroit shut down in both directions until further notice.”
UPDATE @ 3:32p: Thanks to Roxanne for posting photos from her set: Fire in Los Angeles
UPDATE @ 3:26p: Getting reports that the roads nearby are closed in the area – traffic is a nightmare right now. It may or may not be cleared up for regular quittin’ time traffic.
UPDATE @ 3:10p: It was originally a fire in one building, but it has jumped to another building, as well. A co-worker of mine has just been notified that her apartment building is being evacuated; the fire is going toward her building…

Can someone please post where this is? I can’t find it anywhere, I think it’s on my street.
I’m pretty sure it’s on Detroit between 4th and 6th. I live about a block east, and it’s mayhem over there.

its on detroit just north of 6th on the east side of the street. about 2 houses in.
Thank god, my intel was wrong – not as close as I’d thought. Still: sending my thoughts to those people whose homes are affected. Fingers crossed they put it out shortly.

This is scary!
Scary! I hope the residents are safe. On a lighter (?) note, it really affected traffic — it took my husband 1.5 hours to get home from Century City (usually 30-40 minutes max).
