No More Traveling to Vegas for Your Cirque Fix

Fans of twee, Franco-Canadian art performance are likely twirling their ribbons in rapture today as the Times is reporting that, starting in 2010, we’ll be able to skip the trip to Vegas and catch Cirque du Soleil right here at home:

In a move to fill the Kodak Theatre’s often-empty stage between the Academy Awards shows for which it was built, the theater’s owner has committed to a 10-year, $100-million agreement with Cirque du Soleil to create a permanent show for the Hollywood venue.

Unfortunately, the dudes upstairs are saying it’s going to be more of a tourist attraction than a “Broadway-style experience.” Given that and the tourist-dense location, I imagine it will draw plenty more tourii than locals.
