Al Qaeda wants to ruin your trip to the mall. From ABC News:
The FBI is warning that al Qaeda may be preparing a series of holiday attacks on U.S. shopping malls in Los Angeles and Chicago, according to an intelligence report distributed to law enforcement authorities across the country this morning.
It should be noted that authorities are questioning the credibility of the threat, as similar threats have surfaced around the holidays over the past 5 years.
Still, it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out for the funny while looking for a Wii. See something odd? Tell someone.
UPDATE (4:23PM): L.A. Times reports the threat is being discounted. Yay! Shoppers rejoice! Off to the Grove you go!
Fear Everything!
Suspect Everyone!
We have always been at war with Eurasia!
Warnings kinda lose their impact when there aren’t arrests right afterwards.
There’s one right there!
Ah, so that’s how you get LA to pay attention to the real world. Write about something that threatens shopping.
yes, lets all buy into the paranoia !
Do people still shop at malls anymore?
Maybe Homerland Security thinks the ter’rists are gonna attack certain department stores just because they’re called “TARGET.”
I wonder why the continued Al Qaeda threats on our Office Supply stores doesn’t get more press? We can’t let them get their hands on our Post-It Notes!
