Geek out! to clean up your room, turn off the Atari, and don’t even think about firing up the Commodore 64.

For three days starting Sunday, the New Beverly’s double bill will have you begging your parents for an advance on your allowance:

TRON (1982)
Sun: 3:35 & 7:30; Mon/Tue: 7:30

The Last Starfighter (1984)
Sun: 5:30 & 9:25; Mon/Tue: 9:25

Don’t forget to search the couch and laundry for any spare quarters, because I’m sure you’ll be itching to hit an arcade especially after The Last Starfighter. The two closest are probably the Westwood Arcade (10965 Weyburn) or Miss T’s Barcade (371 N. Western)… for more arcades check out Helen Jupiter’s rad map on Gridskipper.

(who didn’t have fantasies they were actually being trained and tested by aliens to save the world when they were playing River Raid?)

By the way, was there ever a game with a cooler display case and music than the one for TRON? Photo by Annie Wong, used under Creative Commons.

  1. Yeah, Discs of TRON ruled in every way. The original TRON was kind of a POS game, but it looked cool. And assuming the music is the same as the Wendy Carlos score for the film, yeah it’s awesome.

BTW, the Star Trek video game had a really cool white cockpit-style cabinet, with the controls on the arm rests.

  2. Jumpin’ Gigawatts! Last Starfighter?!?!?! Man o man I haven’t seen that since I little. Now I have to find a way out of work…
