The Writer’s Guild Foundation is currently holding a workshop for high school students and needs actors to do table readings tomorrow afternoon. It would be a volunteer gig and good karma as you help promote literacy in our community.
From their email:
The Workshop is a two-week literacy program held in the lowest achieving public schools in Los Angeles. During the two weeks the students examine popular films and TV shows to begin to learn the elements of storytelling and how it begins with the written word. Then each student writes a short script based on experience from their own lives.
On the final day of the workshop volunteer actors perform (cold read) a selection of the student scripts. After the two weeks of work, the students get to see their words come to life in the impromtu readings… and it’s a thrill.
The workshop will be held at
Roosevelt High School
456 South Mathews Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033
This Friday, August 24, 1 – 2pm.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call Adam at 323-782-4679.
