Free Music and Family Fun in the San Gabriel Valley

elvis.jpg Two free events for anyone looking for a nice afternoon or evening in the Foothills take place on Sunday August 19. (pic is as big as it gets, publicity poster from Pasadena Star News).

The bigger of the two events is the All America City Fair being held in Sierra Madre at their Memorial Park 2 PM to 8 PM. Map here. This should be of interest to anyone who enjoys Elvis music as their headlining act is Harry Shahoian who does what I have been told a pretty decent Elvis act. The music is free, the food and kiddy entertainment will need tickets purchased from the Rotarians who will be roaming around the event.

Bring your picnic dinner and a blanket as Monrovia continues its Sunday Concert in the Park as well at 6:30PM. This weeks free concert features the classic Rhythm and Blues sounds of LA Blue. This concert takes place in band shell at the northwest corner of Library Park on Myrtle Avenue in the historic Old Town section. Map here.

  1. Jesus, Sunset Junction, Tofu Festival, Bat Day, now this!? Couldn’t they just spread all these events across different weekends instead of just cramming them into one? Granted, they are all very different events, but c’mon, I can’t be the only potential crossover attendee of all these things.
