LA Fire Department Takes Over Oscar Turf

http://blogging.la/archives/images/2007/08/firetruck-thumb.jpg

Why should the Entertainment Industry have all the fun?

This Sunday The Los Angeles Fire Department will be holding the First Annual LAFD Honorary Awards Ceremony at the Kodak Theater.

From the LAFD Blog:

This August 19, 2007 event will honor members of the LAFD who have demonstrated profound bravery and heroism. Awards presented will include the Medal of Valor, Medal of Merit and Letters of Special Commendation, as well as the Phoenix Award for those who suffered a duty related death. Capping the evening will be a very special Lifetime Achievement Award.

Shuttles will take guests after the Ceremony to a reception at historic former Fire Station Number 27 in Hollywood, home to the LAFD Museum and Firefighter Memorial.

$15.00 per person.

Is there a “Best Supporting Role with a Ladder” category? Hello? Supporting…ladder…anybody? Is this thing on?
(This is why I’m not hosting.)

6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

  1. Robnoxious,

Thanks for sharing word of this wonderful event, which not only allows us all to honor noble acts, but more importantly allows Firefighters to thank members of the public for allowing to serve.

I look forward to meeting many of you at the event and reception to follow.

  2. Aw and I’m not going to be in town … I would have loved to cover the red carpet with my camera and best paparazzi imitation.

  3. Cybele,

We will miss your presence, but thank you for mentioning something I forgot.

Flickr members at the event are encouraged to bring their camera, and to post their images to the ‘Los Angeles Fire Department Photo Pool‘.

While it certaintly will not be the caliber of the Academy Awards, we are anticipating a special night – and hope to meet many of you there.

    Travel Safely Cybele!
