Just a quick and dirty post in regards to some of the bounty of bike rides set to happen this weekend:
Midnight Ridazz: This next edition of the monthly mass ride has been dubbed “The World’s Slowest Race” and will roll at 9:30 p.m. Friday from the Pioneer Chicken in Echo Park. The 15-mile casual-paced ride will conclude with a two-block-long “anti sprint” in which the winner will be the last one across the finish line.
7th Annual L.A. River Ride: This yearly event put on by the L.A. County Bicycle Coalition offers a ride for every cyclist. At 8 a.m. there’s the 70-mile roundtripper from Griffith Park to Long Beach and back; at 8:45, a 45-miler commences that goes to Long Beach wherein riders return to Union Station via the Blue and Red lines and then bike the remaining 10 miles back to Griffith Park; at 10 a.m. is the 15-mile Family ride from Griffith Park to the L.A. River Center and back; and at noon is the one-mile kids ride within Griffith Park. Event-day registration is available.
Special Love Of Unicorns (SLOU) (myspace): My kickass friend Ingrid has organized the SLOU for everyone who identifies with and supports the LGBT community and likes to ride their bikes, and this Sunday the SLOU’s “Parade Ride” will proudly embark at 6:30 p.m. from the flagpole at Crescent Heights and Santa Monica in West Hollywood.
