I hear people complaining all the time about how the LA blogosphere is disproportionately skewed towards central LA and the west side. I don’t track enough LA blogs to be able to argue that one way or the other (though my hunch is that it’s true), but if you’re jonesing for more news about the metro area east of downtown check out The Foothill Cities Blog. They’re all about “promoting responsible, limited local government and exposing corruption and government waste in Claremont, Pomona, La Verne, San Dimas, Glendora, Azusa, Duarte, Bradbury, Monrovia, Arcadia, Sierra Madre, and Pasadena” and looks like they have some pretty serious coverage. Also, check out their blogroll which features some other Far East-oriented writers.

i would say the LA blogosphere is disproportinately skewed toward the egomaniacal LA “writer” as opposed to the subject. just look at this site for instance.
I would say somebody’s completely missed the point of blogs.
So what about that survey a few weeks back that said downtown LA was the blog center of the universe or something?
so are these blogs then?
laist
gothamist
bostonist
or any of the other “ist” sites, not blogs
I have no idea what that point is that you’re trying to make.
Monrovia has plenty to blog about, keep it all nice nice and you don’t get visits from the local authorities. Dare say anything evil and watch your back side.
That said, hear about the murder in good old white bread 2 weeks ago? Didn’t think so. 50-100 witnesses and all told not to speak to the press. I even have the press release sent to all of them.
The foothill blog is ok for a quick ready more political than a nice blend of events going on.
I really wish there was a blog from my old hood, which happens to be where all those pot house busts have been happening.
in your first response you said i have completely
missed the point of blogs, which it seems, according
to your response, a blog is about the writer and not
the subject. correct? anyhow, i’m guessing your gonna
pull a tony snow and try to spin yourself out of this
one.
furthermore, on the “ist” sites the “bloggers” do not
write about themselves. instead, they focus their
writing “skills” on the subject, which is far more interesting to the reader. for instance, you would never find this…

…on any of those sites, or blogs, or whatever the blogging.la staff would like to call them in an attempt to prove some point. seriously, what is the point of posting this. it shoulda went in her diary
At first I was hoping this meant more East L.A. coverage, but I guess we’ll continue to only be mentioned in posts that have to do with tacos and murals.
There’s more to Eastlos than that you know.
