Am I really the first person to post that TODAY is Talk Like A Pirate Day? I know everyone is caught up in Dodger madness after last night’s game, but how could one of the best celebratory days, ever, go nine hours without mention on this blog? I started off the day by yelling epithets out the window at the drivers around me on my entirely too long, too slow commute:
“AYE, YE SCURVY DOG, MOVE YER VESSEL OUT OF ME LANE!”
“Y’ARRR! YER SUV BE SHIP-LIKE IN SIZE!”
This is a very celebratory holiday in my house. My roomate and I, when filling out our United States Census Survey, put that we speak buccaneer as a second language. My friends and I all learned the lyrics to “A Pirate’s Life For Me” and sang it while in line for Pirates at Bats Day. Last year, we celebrated by doing karaoke in pirate-speak at Liquid Kitty on Pico; this year, I think I’ll go check out the nautical-themed Redwood Grill (316 W 2nd St @ Broadway), downtown, after the Geek Dinner this evening. But no matter what, I’ll be taking as many opportunities to be speaking as a pirate be, and embracing my “pirattitude”. Y’arrrrr!
