Halloween Horror Nights

After my first trip to Universal Studios Hollywood for my birthday a couple of years ago, I walked away quite, um, underwhelmed. My personal feeling is that the place doesn’t have the imagination like Disney Land or the fun rides like Busch Gardens – instead it kind of oscillates somewhere in between doing nothing in particular that well. And that Van Helsing “ride” you actually walk through is a bunch of horse crap.

However…however…they seem to take a particular interest in Halloween and their proposed project for the theme park this October’s “Halloween Horror Nights” actually sounds very keen:

“Halloween Horror Nights” is staged as a production by “The Director,” a mysterious and demented horror genre auteur who converts the working studio backlot and popular attractions into realistic settings of mayhem. Actors and guests will intermingle for an immersive experience that will shatter preconceptions, transcending notions of horror genre theatrics and Halloween maze experiences to take visitors to a state of extreme dread, shock and terror.

Halloween Horror Nights
Begins on October, Friday the 13th (natch) and continues on on Oct. 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28 and 31

  1. Right on the money. As a theme park, they suck. But they do Halloween really well. It’s a much more immersive experience than the other places.
