Flashfloods AND clear skies in Los Angeles?

My Accuweather toolbar on Firefox is alerting me to a Severe Weather Alert with a flash flooding warning in North Central LA:

* AT 448 PM PDT…LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS REPORTED FLASH
FLOODING BETWEEN HIGHWAY 138 AND AVENUE K TO THE KERN COUNTY LINE.

From LaBrea and Sunset, I don’t see a cloud in the sky.

  1. That’s North Central Los Angeles *County*.

Y’know, like Lancaster… Palmdale… up in the Mohave desert near the Kern County line, where they’re having a BIG ol’ thunderstorm.

  2. It was indeed beautiful.. i was near Wrightwood and Mountain High today and got caught in the smaller of two thunderstorms while doing a plant survey. It rained and there was lots of lightning but it was warm, and there were no flash floods. However, we could see the other storm from where we were, pounding the desert with lightning and apparent downpours.

If you want to see a thunderstorm from far away, go outside tomorrow afternoon around 4 PM and look north, you will probably see one.

    Also, i hate accu-weather.
