Dog Day Afternoon… at Target

I’m not usually excited when I see a celebrity here in Los Angeles, but sometimes they appear so out place it deserves mention.

Such was the case today at the West Hollywood Target, where Al Pacino walked by me pushing a shopping cart with a young kid inside. At first I thought it was just a really bad Pacino impersonator – oversized suit, badly in need of a shave, slight hunch, chic sunglasses, etc. … but I sent my skeptical girlfriend to reconfirm that it was, indeed, Pacino.

Not as strange as when I found Gary Coleman working at my local Blockbuster about six years ago, but odd enough.

Feel free to share your own unique celebrity sightings in the comments.

  1. I spotted Ray Liotta in the jury assembly room of the civil courthouse earlier this month. I asked him if I could take a picture of him with his juror badge, but he declined. Oh well.

  2. My favorite is still theone where I recommended a PS2 videogame to James Spader and his girlfriend(?) while on a lunch break with some friends at the Toys R Us on La Cienega north of the 10 Freeway.

  3. I once reached for the same camisole as Shannon Doherty at Urban Outfitters. She smiled and was nice, but I think if I kept my hand on the camisole it would’ve ended differently.

I found myself next to Hugh Jackman at the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland.

While having a sunset drink at the Surf & Sand Hotel Bar in Laguna Beach, I spotted Robert Englund. I didn’t recognize him at first, and I asked my then-boyfriend (now fiance) who it was. We almost had it when a woman left the bar screaming into her cell phone, “OMG, I’m, like, 10 feet away from Freddie Krueger!”

  4. ok, I’m usually not phased by it… but I was in church last week and saw Kato Kailin sitting a few pews in front of me. He left right after communion. Who knew he was Catholic!

  5. So that’s where Gary Coleman makes all the money he spends at the model train store in Culver City–where I’ve seen him (in addition to several other mostly B-list celebrities) a few times. And I always thought he supported his model-train habit simply by dialing up Cash Call.

  6. I saw James Spader at the Industrial Shoe Warehouse in the Valley…pre-Boston Legal.

  7. That’s so bizarre – I am the one who saw Al at the WeHo Target today (June 7) and posted it on Defamer. He must go there a lot.

  8. my friend saw Mr. T once at the Bed Bath and Beyond in Studio City a couple of years ago, looking for potpurri. She still says that’s her fave sighting ever.

Mine would have to be helping out Mr. Big himself, Chris Noth, on the elliptical at Crunch. He just couldn’t get it to work.
