Yowzah, I found Chimay in LA!

A while ago, I publicly asked via this site if anyone out there knew of establishments in Los Angeles that served Chimay beer. I was bummed that not one person replied with a tip on where I could find this beverage. I mean, come on… we live in LA. Don’t we have everything here? Then, the other night I stumbled upon such a place… The Bowery. It’s a super small restaurant/bar on Sunset blvd that is going for that whole “New York bar but in LA” vibe. It also happens to be mere blocks from my house and the food is pretty decent too. It’d be a lot cooler if they had my favorite beer made by monks on tap like Spaceland does, but then again I don’t have to look at the funny haircuts being worn by Silverlake hipsters when I go there. There’s always upsides and downsides to everything isn’t there? Speaking of Silverlake, how rad are these “Let me guess, you’re from Silverlake” pins that Ringhoff Mercantile make. I think you should buy one.

Oh, and let me know if you happen to find another place that serves Chimay.

  1. Claim Jumper – they even serve it in the special Chimay goblet-shaped glass.

  2. Spaceland serves it up too (and also in the fancy branded goblets) but only in the back bar in the smoking room.

  3. Old Town Pub in Pasadena has it in bottles – the red, the blue, and the gold labels.

  4. And Blairs.

Sure seems like you didn’t look too hard with all these answers!

  5. I believe “The Waterfront” Cafe on the boardwalk in Venice has Chimay as well.

  6. Father’s Office on Montana and 11th has it too, I think. And if not, they’ll have 40 other interesting beers, many belgians.

  7. The Electric Lotus does for sure. I had one a while back. Sorry, had I seen that post, I would have told you were to find it.

Now finding Caffeine-Free Dr. Pepper… (Not Diet) is real challenge. Haven’t found it yet.

  8. Father’s Office in Santa Monica DOES have Chimay and if I remember correctly Toi does, too. OR you could just go to Trader Joe’s and pick up your own bottles to take home.

  9. Please, anything to avoid The Bowery. Nice place for a cocktail (if you can find the room), but the food service is pretty crap and beware: the menu limited.

  10. DEFINITELY Barney’s Beanery. I have taken to calling it ‘Le Beanerie’ due to the classy amounts of drunkness I experience there.

  11. I’m pretty sure they have it at the Little Temple Bar (which used to be the Garage), which is also in Silver Lake. I was paying much more attention to the Nobody and Mystic Chords of Memory set the only time I was there, but I think I saw someone drinking from the Chimay goblet.

If they’ve got at at the Little Temple, they’ve probably also got it at the Temple Bar in Santa Monica, but someone else might know for certain.

  12. They may have Chimay at the Little Temple and the Temple Bar, but I don’t think they have it at the Peoples Temple. I hear they only serve Kool Aid.

  13. The Wild Hare in Highland Park serves it. They also have Delerium on tap. Cool place. try it
