the end is extremely fucking nigh

It’s not that big a deal that the Mighty Ducks of Disney are in round two of the playoffs, while the Los Angeles Kings of We Suck aren’t; any longtime Kings fan can tell you that the playoffs are like Elisha Cuthbert in The Girl Next Door: a whole lot of promise, some excruciating teasing, but no real delivery. I’m a Kings fan, and I’m okay with that.

But I just realized this very moment that not only are the Lakers out of the playoffs, but the fucking Clippers are in round two.

The Clippers.

If this isn’t a sign of the apocalypse, I don’t know what is. Stock up on duct tape and plastic, people.

  1. I’m glad to see Los Angeles can still have an actual underdog from time to time, and Kobe deserves a smack down.

As for hockey… I would SO wear a “Los Angeles Kings of We Suck” jersey if made available.

  2. Subtle but excellent reference to my favorite horror movie… just watch out for Mighty Ducks getting checked on the boards, were any of that blood to get in someone’s system…

  3. Wil, the Ducks are not owned by Disney anymore. And thank goodness they only have one city in their name.

Now, as for the team that plays on the other side of Katella Ave…..

  4. I just made the same observation about the Clippers/Lakers earlier tonight.

Being a sort-of Bay area transplant (at least for now,) I am pleased to see the Sharks playing strong to a 2-0 lead in the second round. My uncle has season seats, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a Stanley Cup final game in my near future.

As a sort-of transplant, I don’t have any problem rooting for the Sharks. On the other hand, there’s no way I will ever – not in this lifetime or the next – cheer those f’ing Giants.

  5. Elisha Cuthbert is all tease to longtime Kings fans but not to a one-time King?

Anyway, I hate the Ducks; but, hey, it’s hip to Clip.

  6. Yup, I’m blown away by the fact that the Clippers are still in it too! I never would have predicted that. Shows you how much faith I have in the second home team!!!

    :-P
