Worldfest 2006

Even though I’m vegan, I’m no freakin’ hippie. That said, tomorrow is the world-reknown Earth Day and an event called Worldfest 2006 takes place from 10am – 6:30pm in Woodley Park, Encino. I don’t know about the poetry reading but the food is all vegan, there’s animal adoptions (which means I must stay far, far away) and LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be a guest speaker.

We will welcome our attendees to a magnificent day filled with entertainment, education and enlightenment. The combination of great music, empowering speakers, environmental, humanitarian and animal welfare non-profits, kid’s activities and an delicious food court make for an earth-friendly experience that is sure to be inspiring and enjoyable for all.

For the schedule, directions, and list of exhibitors, visit the Worldfest 2006 website. And enjoy!

  1. Pretty cool fest, the family and I just got back from spending a few hours there. The music and vibe was cool, but it felt more like a peace rally/save the animals event rather than an Earth Day celebration. What happened to all the Eco-Friendly businesses?

One bit of irony there was all the printed liturature people were giving out. I know its message driven, but I thought we were celebrating earth day. how many trees went into the liturature?

The Mayor was there too, which was cool, but the save the elephant people were a little bawdy during his speech, which made the event not so pleasent. I’m all for protesting, but just being jerks isn’t cool. Save the elephant protest for the new pen opening at the zoo. It was earth day, not elephant.
