BHL – better known as “rockstar philosopher” Bernard-Henri L√©vy – is lecturing on ‘Anti Semitism in Europe Today’ tonight, at UCLA. BHL’s most recent book, “American Vertigo: Travelling America in the Footsteps of Toqueville” has been on my reading radar since it came out in January, but Wikipedia tells me that, even before he wrote a book of observations about America, he did, indeed, have rockstar levels of fame in France. I tell you, America needs rockstar philosophers. That would be awesome.
Anyways, the event is tonight at UCLA, in Korn Hall. I’m well aware that there is anti-Semitism in Europe still, but it will be interesting to hear the perspective on it.
Also, the Skirball is featuring a multimedia exhibit called “The Jewish Identity Project: New American Photography”, from about now through 9/3. For those of you needing something to take relatives in town for Passover to, this looks like a wonderful way to kill some time with them until you can shove them back on a plane on Monday morning.
