Annie Stela At The Troubadour…

I became aware of Annie Stela (MySpace) last September when the Sonus Quartet (MySpace) played backup for her performances at Molly Malones and the Hotel Cafe.

Flashforward to this past weekend, when she and Peter Walker (MySpace) opened for Sondre Lerche (MySpace) and The Faces Down Quartet with two sold-out shows at The Troubadour.

On Saturday, Annie took command of the stage with several songs, including “It’s You” and “Breathe Through” (as heard on the Sound Response compilation CD benefiting the victims of Hurricane Katrina), and providing anecdotes about her move from Michigan to Los Angeles as well as a guy in her life who provided much fodder for her songs.

Annie’s next performance is on April 27th at the Hotel Cafe and her debut EP, titled There Is A Story Here, streets on May 17th.

I also ran into Timothy Norris from IceCreamMan.com, who was primarily there for Peter but stuck around for Annie and Sondre, so I expect his report and photos to be posted soon.
