Let’s talk about those X-billboards.

I can’t be the only one who just didn’t get what those billboards were…can I? It took weeks before it dawned on me that the glam rockers in the Rent ripoff ad campaign for what I assumed was some big concert (complete with Halle Berry, who I failed to recognize, as Jon Bon Jovi) were actually the X-Men. Even Wolverine’s claws and Angel’s wings didn’t tip me off. No, I didn’t even notice (in my defense, I don’t think I ever saw Angel). It took recognizing Anna Paquin for everything to fall into place in my brain.

I’ve known now for over a month just what the billboards are for, and they still catch me up. I know several of my fellow Metbloggers love the series, but I think it is just bad marketing if a fan of the comics and movies doesn’t know what she’s looking at.

Anyone else?

  1. I’m with ya. Strangely enough at first billboard I thought it was promoting the next Enya disc. Turned out it was Famke Janzen (or whoever you spell it). Only when I saw one with Halle on it did it click.
