Elephants at the Zoo

In the last few months there has been a lot of whining about how LA shouldn’t have elephants in the zoo. Bob barker recently spoke out about how it is cruel and a wast of tax payers money to house them. I personally think that the LA Zoo does a great job of taking care of the pachyderms and this article about the new habitat that is being built supports my opinion.

The project will cost a total of $39 million, funded from private donations, bonds approved under Propositions A and CC, the city’s General Fund and the Municipal Improvement Corp. of Los Angeles.

The new elephant oasis will replace a 2-acre, $19 million elephant exhibit that was previously proposed.

  1. I was at the LA Zoo a few months ago and they were half way through constructing the new elephant exhibit and I have to say it looks great. I don’t think these people know what they’re talking about. If I was an elephant, I wouldn’t mind living there.
