No Giant Village Refunds?

On New Years Eve this year I posted a story about Giant’s lack thereof Village. Giant responded on their website that they would be issuing refunds to ticket-holders through the channels which they purchased said tickets. The Giant Village site no longer has any information on it except for an email address, which I sent an email to enquiring about the refunds, but have yet to hear back. As it turns out people who bought their tickets from Virgin don’t seem to be getting any money back and have been vocalizing their concern on the original thread from NYE referencing the rumor that cancellation insurance wasn’t purchased. If you have or have not gotten your refund please post a comment in this thread.

  1. I have not received my ticket refund for Giant Village 2006 yet. I bought my tickets from Benway Records, which is considered an “Independent Retail Outlet” and had special instructions in order to receive a refund. I had to “e-mail [email protected] on or before Thursday, January 12, 2006″ and send in my original tickets with a copy and contact information. I did all of that on Jan. 11. I received an instant automatic email reply that said they would send my refund to me “ASAP” as soon as they got my tickets. The original instructions said it would take “up to 15 business days for your refund to be processed.” It’s been over a month now and still nothing. Does anyone know what happened to the threatened lawsuit(s)?

  2. I bought my tickets from an “Independent Retail Outlet” as well. I sent in all the necessary doc’s, emails, etc. and I haven’t received my refund either. I’ve sent 3 emails about the status of my refund and no one has replied.

  3. I too bought my tickets (3 to be exact) from Benway Records and am still waiting for my refund from Giant. I mailed my tickets in on January 9th. I too have sent them emails and received no repy. I was skeptical that they would send out refunds in 15 days. They obviously don’t have the best track record. Please post once you all get your refunds and I shall do the same.

  4. I bought my tickets from Virgin megastore and sent in all the stuff in a timely manner and i still havent gotten a refund. i emailed giant last week and i still haven’t gotten any reply from them. i think the best bet is to contact the credit card company and get your money back that way.

  5. Same story as above. My friends and myself are $400 deep on these tickets and fuming. We bought them at grooveriders. I followed the instructions on the website…emailing info to [email protected] and sending tickets to them on January 9th. I too would like to know any info on the lawsuit. To be honost, I don’t give two S**ts what the sob story is on their part..I want no excuses and I need that money two weeks ago.

  6. Same as above, tried emailing them again on Monday and still no reply. It has been too long and it seems like Giant has dropped all mention of the event /refunds?! Any info is appreciated!

  7. I am surprised – I have infact recieved my $160 refund for 2 tickets – I purchased from Virgin, followed instructions to a T and also followed up repeatedly via email with Giant.

  8. i purchased my tickets from ipso facto in fullerton and have yet to receive my refund. i processed the entire deal exactly as was outlined on what i believe was therabouts the 9th of january.
no word at all. that is shady as all hell.
truthfully, i was understanding and patient throughout this deal. but, to have cut off all contact and provide no updates or responses is crooked and certainly borders on criminal.

  9. I haven’t gotten a refund yet or heard any update on the stauts of refunds for purchases made through Virgin Megastore. I also sent my e-mail in a timely manner and expected to at least hear something, or receive some kind of confirmation by now. Lawsuit, anyone?

  10. Same old story…. I bought 8 tickets from Pegasus… They have specific instructions on getting my refund back.. I followed the instructions to the dot and still haven‚Äôt received my refund… I emailed but no reply… I thinking of getting a LAWSUIT going… My brother is a lawyer for a TOP LAWFIRM in West L.A. If anyone has any info about the refunds, please let me know…. THANKS

  11. We bought tickets through Virgin andd never received a refund. We even went to Virgin on Jan 3rd to “return” the tickets after no info was posted. Of course it didn;t work, but hey, we were desperate!
My husband and I are talking to our credit card company because we’re about to come up on our monthly statement and i’ll be damned if i’m paying interest on a show that never happened! We followed the mail in instructions, emailed repeatedly and nothing from Giant.
    boo. hiss.

  12. This is the reply I received from Giant today: We have issued the majority of the refunds for tickets purchased at Virgin Megastores or Independent Outlets. If you have not received your refund, please do not be alarmed as we will make sure everybody who has sent their tickets in will be refunded.

At this time, we have not received all the ticket sales income from Virgin and several Independent Outlets, but have been assured we will be receiving this money in the very near future. This delay in receiving all the income has delayed our refund process, but will not prevent us from satisfying all refund requests as soon as possible.

We apologize for any unexpected delay.

  13. I have yet to get the same email from Giant appologizing for the delay in refunds. I too purchased two tickets from Virgin, followed through on their instructions, waited 15+ day’s, sent Giant e-mails demanding my money, but nothing, nota nuka….it’s about that time Godzilla rolls up and destroys that little tiny Giant!

  14. Someone should confront Dave Dean at the next Giant gig. I think it’s this Saturday (Sasha/James Zabiela.)

Can you believe he is still throwing weeklies?!!

  15. I too did not recieve my refund after following their instructions. It has been over a month for me, way past the 15 days they promised to refund. Any suggestions on what else I can do? Will there be a civil suit towards their broken claims/promise. I still have original documentation on their promise of refunds when following procedure.

  16. Hello everyone!!

  17. I for one feel totally scammed. I bought 2 tickets from Virgin. Followed the instructions and its been well over a month ! I even tried calling the Giant village office, which had a recorded message reffering me to thier website. That website has absoulutely nothing that would help me. So i found the address to the giant village office and tried to go there and the office is closed down. Its not looking good. I hope they have good lawyers.

  18. I bought my tickets from groovetickets (Pegasus VIP) and got my refund a month ago. DOnt see why soo many are having problems.

  19. I also bought 2 tickets at Virgin Records and followed the return policy to a tee. The last I heard from Giant Village was an email on Feb 10th telling me to mail in my tickets and the refund would be received in 10-15 days. I emailed them last week asking for the status of the refund and there was no response. This is ridiculous.

  20. Lets face it, we all got screwed. I did all the necessary things right after New Years Eve and never recieved a refund. I’ve tried to contact them on many occassions and was ignored. I felt bad that they weren’t insured, but it’s their own damn fault. Who the hell throws a major concert in downtown LA without insurance? If they value whatever is left of their reputation they should make good on all of their debts to us. If not I will never attend another GIANT function.

  21. I too got screwed. I sent my tickets and emails in on Jan. 12 and still have not heard back. I purchased these tickets at the Virgin Megastore in SF. I was wondering for the folks that went through their credit card company to get the tickets, did they give you a refund? Has anyone gotten refunds yet?

  22. KANE again, got this email today, hope it will ease some tension:

    Hello,

We have received the GIANT Village ticket(s) that you sent us for a refund. Although we experienced a unforeseen delay due to the need to manually cross-reference the individual ticket numbers to the actual store where purchased, this sorting process is now complete.

We have now started to mail out refunds and hope to have them all mailed in the very near future. If you have not received your refund, please do not be alarmed as we will make sure everybody who has sent their tickets in will be refunded.

To date, we have not received all the ticket income from a few ticket outlets. This delay in receiving all the ticket income has delayed our refund process, but will not prevent us from satisfying all refund requests as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for this unexpected delay and we certainly understand the inconvenience that you endured on New Year’s Eve and we are making it our mission this year to rebuild your trust moving forward.

    Kind Regards,

    Dave Dean

    President, GIANT Los Angeles, Inc.

  23. I’m soooo pissed! This is total crap, and I definitely want my money back…like most of you. I spoke to a manager who got me Dave Dean’s phone number and email address. Of course, he doesn’t respond, and his phone inbox tends to always be full. I’m writing emails everyday and calling everyday UNTIL I get a response or my refund! I think it’s totally lame that they have put NOTHING on their website to explain themselves. Whomever Kane is…how’d you get that? Geez, one of the subject headings I put on one email was: I want to sue Giant Village! And I’m soooo not kidding. Anyhow…please spread the word and continue to blow up Dave Dean’s email and phone inboxes! Here’s the info: 213-362-4340 and [email protected]. This is frickin’ ridiculous!!!!! It was such an inconvenience the moment the party was cancelled. I had people who flew in from another place to attend this damn party, and luckily…I was able to find another spot at the last minute. I SOOOOOO REGRET BUYING TICKETS FOR THIS, and frankly….Dave Dean’s an idiot. For someone who is “President” of this corporation…he’s VERY DISORGANIZED and his apologies mean shit if he can’t communicate well to the public. What a dumbass President! Please keep the comments going, and if there’s any new info…I’ll be checking this site.

  24. never, never again, will I support any Giant Event. Out of pocket for two $80 tickets. We ended up attending Avalon Event that night, $200 each to get in! but at least we had a party to go to. Have followed all instructions to get the refund for tickets purchased through Virgin Megastores, nothing! What a let down! And we are 40yrs old, wanting to get out for special event on New Years eve,….only to be let down at the last minute.

  25. It’s Joanne again…PERSISTENCE WORKS!!! Dean FINALLY emailed me back after several calls and emails. At one point, I even sent out an email with a subject heading that said I wanted to contact local media to investigate, since I wasn’t receiving a response. Here’s what Dave emailed:

First, I’m not sure why you never got a reply from the Giant account, but as we had to enter each refund manually, a few slipped through the cracks and I apologize.

Your refund is in a batch that was send to mail yesterday. If you do not receive this in the next few days, please let me know.

Again, I sincerely apologize for the wait and would be happy to put you on my guest list for any future Giant events.

    Thanks,
    Dave

We’ll see if the refund check comes in the mail. So…to those of you who haven’t received your refunds yet, nor a response from him, KEEP EMAILING AND CALLING HIM!!! I even said, in one email, to put information on the website. Good luck everyone!

  26. In a different email account…on Feb. 24th, I received the same reply that Kane, above, received…which was:

    Hello,

We have received the GIANT Village ticket(s) that you sent us for a refund.
Although we experienced a unforeseen delay due to the need to manually
cross-reference the individual ticket numbers to the actual store where
purchased, this sorting process is now complete.

We have now started to mail out refunds and hope to have them all mailed in
the very near future. If you have not received your refund, please do not be
alarmed as we will make sure everybody who has sent their tickets in will be
    refunded.

To date, we have not received all the ticket income from a few ticket
outlets. This delay in receiving all the ticket income has delayed our
refund process, but will not prevent us from satisfying all refund requests
    as soon as possible.

We sincerely apologize for this unexpected delay and we certainly understand
the inconvenience that you endured on New Year¬πs Eve and we are making it
our mission this year to rebuild your trust moving forward.

In any case…I did mention a few days ago, on Feb. 22, that Dave personally did email me that my check was mailed out on Wednesday with a certain batch, BUT it is Saturday (A FEW DAYS LATER AS DAVE INDICATED) and STILL NO CHECK! He’s frickin’ playing me! I guess my wave of constant calls and emails continue! This is soooo insane! Ketrin, let me know what the police told you. Hope you got the number and Dave Dean’s email address that I posted on Feb. 22. Oh! And I highly recommend telling your story to local newspapers and news media! That way…future customers who attend Giant Village
parties will beware and so that this damn Dave Dean’s reputation will go down!!!!

  27. I purchased 4 tix from Virgin Megastore in Anaheim and sent the email within the 2 week timeframe and have not heard back either. We have been calling around and trying to get the refund, but to no avail.

What is his contact information to get ahold of him instead of going through Virgin and general hotlines?

  28. Yay…I FINALLY GOT MY REFUND!!! SERIOUSLY…EMAIL AND LEAVE MESSAGES IN THE PHONE INBOX A LOT!!! Here’s the info Jen, and everyone else: 213-362-4340 and [email protected]

PERSISTENCE is the key!!! I think I got my check so that Dave Dean could get me off his back. I was getting so rude in my emails, and I have even sent letters/emails to local newspapers/media about this situation.

    Hope this email helps!

  29. Congrats Joanne. I STILL haven’t gotten mine (I was the first to post at the top). It’s been 50 DAYS since I mailed my tickets in. This is damn stupid.
