Don’t Cry, Anaheim – We Have Your Back

A jury has decided that the Orange County baseball club known as the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim can keep its name.

From the L.A. Times:

Jurors handed the club’s flamboyant owner, Arte Moreno, a big victory. Last year, he changed the name of his club to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The city claimed alienation of affections; until Moreno ordered the change last year, the team was called the Anaheim Angels.

Now its time for us Angelenos to sue the team for soiling our good name. Don’t worry, Anaheim, we know the Angels belong behind the Orange curtain!

However, I’m confused by the translation – Los Angeles Angels = The Angels Angels. Sort of like “The La Brea Tar Pits” translating into “The The Tar Tar Pits”.

  1. Seen at OC Fair’s Garbage concert last July:

Guy wearing a tee shirt with this on the back:

    L. A. F. D.
    (of Anaheim)

  2. I see the L.A.F.D. (of Anaheim) shirts all the time at my gym.

At least we still have the Anaheim Mighty Ducks (soon to be the Anaheim Ducks). Arte just dosen’t get the whole OC v. LA metality, but that’s what you get when you get a billboard salesman from Arizona owning our local baseball team.
