the south bay is full of shit

If you were planning on taking a swim in the South Bay today, you may want to reconsider, because it’s been flooded with raw sewage.

Among the communities whose shores were contaminated were Palos Verdes Estates, Torrance, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach, officials said, adding that beaches may remain closed until midweek.

Raw sewage began bubbling up from manholes about 10 a.m. Sunday after an electrical malfunction at a pumping station near 27th Place and The Strand in Manhattan Beach, Joe Haworth of the Los Angeles County Sanitation District said.

They’re going to pump most of the shit away from the water, but some of it will get buried beneath the sand, and most of the beaches should be reopened by tomorrow.
