Old and busted: Picasso, Matisse, Degas. New hawtness: ?

LACMA will reportedly (AP Story) be auctioning off some $10-14 million worth of sculptures, paintings, and other artwork in November, at Sotheby’s New York. The ‘pieces include paintings by Amedeo Modigliani, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley and Max Beckmann…. sculptures by Alberto Giacometti and Henry Moore, as well as works on paper by Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse and Edgar Degas.’ The money will be going towards more ‘modern works’ during the upcoming expansion of the museum.

It’s been quite a long while since I’ve been over to LACMA — so long that the exhibition we attended was before the earliest date on their Past Exhibits page. Although I have to say one of my favorite things to do in L.A. is spiral slowly through the Japanese Art Pavilion. About time for a field trip.
