Spooky lights in Culver City

I haven’t been posting as much as usual because most of the daylight hours I’ve been at the new sixspace location in Culver City fixing walls, painting, and all the other pre-work that needs to be done before the big move. On Saturday there was an opening across the street at Billy Shire Fine Arts and now that we’re in the neighborhood we can actually go to things like this. About 20 minutes after we got to the gallery there was a black out that took out all the lights for about 3 blocks. All was dark for a few minutes and then things got weird. Lights started glowing as if they were all on the lowest setting of a dimmer. The whole block was like this, just enough power flowing through to create some light but that’s it. It was haunting. The whole block was just glowing and the light was almost flickering. Definitely one of the weirdest things I’ve seen in a while and it lasted hours apparently. The best part was that most people who came to the opening thought it was intentional!

  1. Jim – check the archives on art.blogging.la for all the reasons but in fact, it kind of is. There’s about 20 art galleries within 2-3 blocks of our new location so it’s pretty great.

  2. Maybe there was an evil carnival wending it’s way down Washington, ยท la Something Wicked This Way Comes. You’re lucky to have escaped with your immortal soul.
