Talking Tacos

There’s been plenty of taco talk here before and we all know La Taquiza has the “best tacos in town” (their sign even says so) but Eric Garcetti just put on the taco reviewing apron and went to town:

“There are a lot of great taco places in and around the 13th Council District. There is the local branch of Siete Mares, which makes a mean shrimp taco andTacos Delta my favorite for carnitas and the carne asada tacos. A little further afield are the near-perfect fish tacos of Tacos Baja Ensenada. But my personal favorite taco is a cochinita pibil taco from Yuca’s, on Hillhurst between Franklin and Los Feliz. Owned and operated by the Herrera family, these are all you need for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The marinated pork, with a little pool of warm grease and some minimal garnish, all wrapped in warm and forgiving tortillas, is simply put, a piece of perfection.”

  1. Hmmmm… tacos. My favorite come from a couple that cater parties. Their tacos al pastor are the best I’ve had in LA.

  2. That’s all well and good, but who has the best vegetarian/vegan taco in town? Help! The blackened mushroom tacos at Wahoo’s are the best I’ve found, and spicy too. I hear a lot about Tito’s Tacos in Culver City but haven’t ever been there, nor do I know if I can eat there.

  3. Ok, I’m new to Pasadena, and have yet to find a good Mexican food restaurant there. Any suggestions? And none of the vegan places please. ;-)

  4. Greg, seriously check out La Taquiza, they have amazing vegan tacos that we get all the time at the gallery. Hell, swing buy and I’ll take you there since I owe you one for the Culver City Chinese tip. Tito’s is definitely NOT vegan, or vegitarian for that matter.
