The annual Los Angeles Revlon 5K is happening this coming Saturday (It’s also Mother’s Day weekend so don’t forget. Call her at least. She deserves a call. What’s wrong with you?) If you’ve never participated, it’s a pretty exciting morning. There are usually around fifty thousand people that show up to either run, walk or offer support. The race is a very flat, very friendly 5k. The last 1/8 mile is one of the most exciting legs of any race, anywhere. As you round the last turn towards the Coliseum, a dozen or so tribal drummers thunderously welcome you to the home stretch. The road leads to a tunnel into the Coliseum; the same tunnel that countless Olympians before have entered in the last leg of their race. Eventually, it opens up into the LA Coliseum, the finish-line, and thousands of screaming finish-line fans. It’s quite a moment.
If anyone is interested in getting a Blogging.la team together, I’ll be there no matter what. You know I’m gonna blog it all.
