The Funky Blimp

If you’re in the Hollywood/Los Feliz/Silverlake/Echo Park/Atwater Village area today, you might notice this blimp flying around.

Called the Ameriquest Soaring Dreams Airship, it’s a project of Portraits of Hope, a non-profit children’s group.

You can also read about it here. I saw an article about it last week and was hoping to catch a glimpse of it today. It’s definitely more fun than that Goodyear blimp (which I still enjoy seeing). Sorry, my photos of it suck, there are nice vivid ones on their websites.

UPDATE: ooh – hexod.us has a better photo.

  1. I got to help paint panels of the blimp as part of the Soaring Dreams program. (I volunteer as a Big Sister.) Today was the blimp’s official launch at Dodger Stadium and the kids were SO excited to see what they did finally assembled and in the sky!

  2. “And the lights of the Goodyear blimp said ‘Ice Cube’s a pimp'” –Ice Cube

  3. Hi I paint some of the blimp pannels with the 5th 6th 7th and 8th grade at my school Project HOPE in Orange California
