Urth to Santa Monica

It’s nice when you don’t have to travel to the other side of town to enjoy some good food. Urth CaffÈ just opened a new location in Santa Monica, mere minutes from my house. I hadn’t been to either of the other locations, but I’d heard rave reviews. Friends and co-workers were literally salivating as they described the food and drinks.

I ate dinner there tonight and it was delicious! I had the soup/sandwich combo, with butternut squash soup and grilled chicken pesto sandwich. To top it off, I had the BEST hot apple cider I’ve ever had (and mind you, I consider myself a hot apple cider guru). It was so yummy, like they had squished some apples and served them to me with a side of you-will-freak-when-you-realize-this-is-the-best-cider-ever.

A part of me didn’t want to post this as not to give away this new location – there’s not even a sign on the building that identifies it as Urth – so promise me that you’ll only go there before 6 p.m. during the week and not at all on weekends. Don’t keep a woman from her apple cider!

  1. My wife and I spend a lot of time in Paris (she’s French) and I’ve come to really really like a croissant in the morning. But I prefer the light and flakey French croissant, not the big fat heavy and doughy logs that pass for croissants in this country.

Urth Cafe has the best croissants we’ve found yet in Santa Monica (or LA for that matter), including *far* better than the gold-plated dough logs found at the chi chi cafe named after a French emperor that is a couple of blocks up Main from Urth.
