Spiritually Eating

644649.jpgSo, I don’t know how long it’s been there, but the gee eff and I have been frequenting Prasadam in Silverlake lately. It’s a hard place to describe. Part teahouse, part coffeehouse, part new age restaurant but with less pretension and better food that you would expect from any of those. They have an interesting menu. From the name, you’d think it was Indian, but it’s not, really. At least, I wouldn’t call “Build Your Own Quesadillas” Indian. However, t’s definitely got a healthier, yogic slant, with lots of vegetarian and even vegan options. Everything seems very fresh and all the dishes that I’ve tried have been very tasty (something I don’t always expect from healthier restaurants). They’ve got a great selection of teas and lots of fresh juice and juice combinations (including the Master Cleanser…who knew you could fast and still go out to eat?). If you go, I highly, highly recommend the Eden’s Basket, which is a big-ass platter of fruits and nuts and cheeses and spreads and chocolates and basically whatever they have available. It’s different every time and it’s A-W-E-S-O-M-E. They also do BYOB Bloody Mary’s on the weekend, which I think is so cool. This is the sort of post I’m going to kick myself for when my new favorite place gets all busy and I have to start waiting for tables, but Krishna demands that I share the love. Prasadam is on Sunset Blvd., about a block east of Eatwell, near Tacos Delta and Floyd’s.

  1. I’d be interested to know if they’ve built up any breakfast-specific items. We ducked in one morning a few months ago for a bite and the hostess sheepishly told us breakfast wasn’t really on the menu, dangit.

  2. They do have a breakfast menu now. For awhile it was only on weekends, but now they have it all week. The heuvos rancheros are awesome. They also change the waffle selection all the time, so there’s always something new. Last time I had Pear/Vanilla Bean. I wish I had one right now.

  3. I soooo love this place. I discovered it this summer and have been going ever since!!!
They have this coffee with spices in that so rocks my world and every food dish I’ve had has been good.
    Glad you posted about it!
