The Best News in the History of the World

Is is me or is television actually getting better? I mean, there’s Alias (bien sur) and all the HBO shows but there are a new batch of projects that are so good, it’s actually making me consider getting cable. LOST is out of this world amazing and, say what you will, Desperate Housewives rocks my socks. So what could be better than this? Well, my friends, that would be a new show developed, written, and starting Chris Elliot…

In the still-untitled project, Elliott will star as a father of two daughters, one of whom is a driven aspiring pop singer.

I’m hoping that it has the enough of the silliness of Get a Life and the god-like Cabin Boy with perhaps a little something else to make it stay on the air longer. But Chris Elliot is a genious – if he and Will Ferrell did a show together, I just might die.

  1. Hate to say this since it is on UPN and MTV, but _Veronica Mars_ is a pretty good show too, certainly better than the assy new WB shows. FOX is even worse; they can burn in Hell for cancelling my beloved _Wonderfalls_.

_Desperate Housewives_ sounded like a horrible idea at first, but I have to admit the show kicks incredible amounts of ass. I especially love Marcia “Oh Shit, The Wig!” Cross.

And I agree, Chris Elliot is freaking hilarious. I hope his new show is as good as his previous work.

  2. I’m TOTALLY on board for Lost. I haven’t caught DH yet, but I’ve heard great things so I’m setting the TiVo to get it.

I don’t know if you’re an animation fan, but there is a veritable goddamn rennaisance in animated cable programming going on, both adult and kiddie-style. Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends is both well written and beautiful. My Life as a Teenage Robot is cool. Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021 are great. Venture Bros. is just amazing and painfully funny and smart.

On another note, VH1 is running a fantastic series about the history of hip-hop called And You Don’t Stop: 30 Years of Hip-Hop.

I’m nowhere near being a TV slave, but there’s just a ton of good stuff going on now. (and need I mention just a few short months until the return of Deadwood?!)

Oh, I love Chris Ellitot too.

  3. Oh, and put one in the minus column for USA’s version of Frankenstein last night. It looked awesome but Parker Posey does not a hardbitten detective make. Not by a LONG shot.

  4. I don’t even have a TV and I’m damned excited about this!

Get A Life remains my favorite TV show of all time. For my money, that was the last solid reason to own a TV, period.
