During last Sunday’s WWE Wrestlemania XX pay-per-view, it was announced that Wrestlemania 21 will be held on Sunday, March 27th, 2005 at Staples Center. In addition, WWE’s upcoming Judgment Day pay-per-view (featuring the SmackDown! roster) will be held at Staples Center on Sunday, May 16th, with tickets on sale on Saturday, April 10th at 10:00 AM (and tickets ranging in price from $20.00 to a whopping $300.00 for ringside seating).

Don’t think that the WWE is the only game in town though, as Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and UPW (whose recent graduates include John Cena and San Bernadino native Victoria; it’s also where Evan Marriott trained before “Joe Millionaire”) also hold regular shows here. PWG’s next show is this Saturday at 8:00 PM at the Santa Ana Elks Club ($15.00 admission), and UPW’s next show is Mat Wars on Saturday, April 10th at 7:00 PM in El Segundo ($5.00 admission).

And then there’s Lucha Va Voom, a promotion that features a combination of burlesque and Mexican lucha libre wrestling, and that also signed a five episode miniseries deal with Comedy Central. Their audience differs from the stereotypical pro wrestling crowd because their fanbase is hipper and more upscale. Their next show will be held at a date and time to be announced, although if history is any indication, it’ll be held at the Mayan.
