Yet another art opening this Saturday, January 10th. (I’m suddenly glad our next opening isn’t until the 24th!)…it’s an interesting group exhibition that says that it’s the last one for London Street Projects so another thing to ponder is L.A. losing a gallery?
GROUP PROJECT | MAIL-IN SHOW
January 10 – February 7, 2004
Reception for the artists: 7-10 pm, Saturday, January 10th
This exhibition is intended as the last show at London Street Projects. Many artists were asked to create a work of any kind so long as it is mailed/postmarked/delivered by the U.S. Post, addressed to London Street Projects; and so the piece physically passes through the mail slot in the front door of the project space. No thematic framework was given except to encourage a work expressly created FOR London Street Projects. Aspects of foregoing possesion of a work after it has been delivered was also emphasized when artists were invited. In addition, L.A. artist Daniel Mendel-Black will create free-standing sculptural “display armatures” on which some work may be installed.
