This weekend is it.  The 53rd Annual Celebrate the Arts presented by the Monrovia Association of Fine Arts.  As always its held in Library Park in the heart of Old Town Monrovia.  This year there are 50 fine artists showcasing their art as well as local non-profits sharing what they do in the community.

There will be live and DJ provided entertainment all weekend at Celebrate the Arts.  There will also be Food Trucks.  Saturday will feature Pie and Burger, and My Delight Cupcakery.  Sunday will feature Austyn Premier Hamburgers and Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream.

New this year to add to the fun and excitement is a BEER GARDEN.  All proceeds from the sale of fine craft beer from Pacific Plate Brewery goes to MAFA to help with various community art projects and events during the year.

If you have kids, bring them along as there will be ample for them to do.  One of the sponsors, ChapCare is having a coloring contest.  Another local business is sponsoring the Youth Chalk Art Competition on Saturday.  Please note that this year because of anticipated rain and wet sidewalks Friday and Sunday the competitive Chalk Painting has been cancelled.

Additionally the Friends of the Library will be holding an Art and Collectibles Book Sale on Saturday during the show.

Looking for a break from the rhetoric and vitriol of the election season? If so be in Old Pasadena Sunday 10/23 3PMish for the silliness that is the Running of the Clowns.  Yes, the parody of the running of the bulls with funny clowns is taking place next Sunday in Old Town Pasadena.  After the fun and excitement in the alleys and byways of Old Pasadena the crew will meet up for debriefing at Lucky Baldwins.

Want to be a runner or a clown?  Rules are simple  Dress in white with a big bold Red sash as a runner.  Be a funny lovable clown and you can join in the fun that way.  Full dossier can be found on GuerilLA Facebook page.

Parking in Old Town is kind of a bummer and expensive when you find it so consider using the Metro Gold Line and taking it to Memorial Station…the official location of the start of the Running of the Clowns.

Video by me from the first running of the clowns in 2014.

Get yer trucker hats on and head on over to Stub Hub in Carson for the Nissan Titan Driving Adventure this weekend 10/1-2.  What you get is a chance to run the new Titan in a couple of different trims through its paces on a slalom course and burn off some rubber in the process.  AND you get to go on a simulated off-road course and marvel at the technology Nissan packed into the trucks.  Hills…not a problem from “zero gravity” seats that are support and comfy to tech like “Auto Hill Hold and Descent control its some pretty amazing stuff Nissan packed into the trucks.  Even if you aren’t in the market for a truck, its fun to slog them around a track or closed off-road course and see what they can do.
