Paint n Play 2 Art Studio and Gallery robbed and ransacked

Monday night, early Tuesday morning my friend Lisa Barrios business, Paint n Play 2 Art Studio and Gallery located at 418 S Myrtle Ave in Monrovia was burglarized and ransacked. I’ll be helping with the inventory of stolen art work, but our best guess tonight is easily 10K in art alone was stolen from the upstairs gallery.

Shortly after midnight the neighboring business caught this persons image trying to open their door at the rear courtyard. He stopped long enough for his picture to be taken, then went one door south to the Paint n Play 2 Art Studio and Gallery. From there, someone, presumbably this person of interest, broke open the rear door and entered Paint n Play. About 15 minutes later a figure is seen on the Myrtle Avenue side of the business loading stuff into a shiny dark sedan possibly a Honda or Toyota.Whats really sad is that I know the artists that lost pieces.  All work hard to create their art to support their families.  Trying to not sound to cliche but we are all devasted that this happened.  My friend Rick Kess lost at least 8 pieces, his basement studio was ransacked and expensive one off custom brushes were stolen.  Tyger Jimmy had 3 large pieces stolen, Min Wang had at 2 large water colors taken, Stephen Coleman had a large photograph taken.

KABC7 will be running the story later this evening. It is my understanding from Stephen that they have been given the entire video tape including other frames with clear views of this person of interest.  I’ll include the link when it is available.

If you know the person in this picture please contact Monrovia Police Department at 626-256-8000.

Please help these hard working artists and shop owner recover their stolen property.
