Win Tickets to Pina 3D at the Downtown Independent

Winners have been selected and notified via email. Thank you for your comments!

It’s hard to remember when I was last affected by a film as much as I have been by Wim Wenders’ Academy Award nominated 3D documentary Pina. I’ve seen it in the theater three times and love it more each time.

PINA is a feature-length dance film in 3D with the ensemble of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, featuring the unique and inspiring art of the great German choreographer, who died in the summer of 2009.

PINA is a film for Pina Bausch by Wim Wenders.

He takes the audience on a sensual, visually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: straight onto the stage with the legendary Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch ensemble, he follows the dancers out of the theatre into the city and the surrounding areas of Wuppertal – the place, which for 35 years was the home and centre for Pina Bausch’s creativity.

Pina is going to being showing at the fabulous Downtown Independent starting Friday, March 2nd through Thursday, March 8th. Blogging LA has FIVE (5) PAIRS OF TICKETS TO GIVE AWAY TO THE SCREENING OF YOUR CHOICE AT THE DOWNTOWN INDEPENDENT.

Leave a comment by 12pm on Thursday, March 1st stating why you would like to see Pina. Five winners will be selected and notified by email.

  1. Why do I want to see Pina? Because the Wim Wenders who made Tokyo-Ga directed it, which is all the reason I need. :)

(the 5pm Sat show would be great!)

  2. The trailer excites me beyond belief. Thank you for reminding me about this delicious movie. I will see it regardless but a pair of free tix is the icing on the cake!

  3. I started dancing at the age of 3 and continued all the way through college, receiving my BFA in Dance. Pina Bausch is a huge inspiration and the movie looks incredible! I’m also a huge film geek. This is one film that I believe should be viewed in the theatres (as opposed to my usual “I’ll wait til Netflix” response) and actually makes sense to be in 3D. The 9pm Friday showing would work for me, as well as a Saturday or Sunday matinee. :)

  4. “i should win tickets to see this film” because i am
    broke but impassioned
and the last movie i saw in 3-d was a christmas carol at which
i smoked too much pot. i think
    pina would beat
    jim carrey’s
    crazy nose.

    i dance, too. any night
    is good.

  5. I would love to win tickets to Pina 3D because I have heard two of my friends talk about how visual stunning it was and that they were blown away by it. Now after reading your positive review, I’m even more curious and would love the opportunity to finally go see it! As a bonus, it would make a great date because it’s at the awesome Downtown Independent! :)

  6. As a dancer since the age of two, I find myself as a 28 year old consumed by the responsibilities of adulthood and desperately missing inspriational dance, choreography and art. I am so psyched about this film and cannot wait to see it.

  7. I suscribe to dancecamerawest.Saw the taiwanese dance troop cloud gate at the luckman 2 weeks ago.I check out every dance event at ucla.I LOVE DANCE!

  8. Please pick me! I haven’t been to a movie since my parents took me to see tower heist. I am a poor preschool teacher living in LA who loves dance! This trailer completely floored me and I would love to see this movie for the inspiration it would give me! It will also give me some ideas for dancing with the children. I am not kidding you!

  9. Save me, Pina! You see, I’ve been on a bad run of dates lately. But I can think of nothing better to rescue me from a lifetime spent alone and wondering what could have been than making a first date of this movie. I’ll seem engaged and cultured w/o seeming pretentious. Yes, it’s beloved Wim, but it’s also 3-D! Kind of the best of everything rolled into one–what I hear–gorgeous spectacle. Maybe I can even take one of the lithe and lovely dancers below. Hmmm…

  10. Ever since I saw Almodovar’s Hable con Ella at the cinema ten years ago with the INCREDIBLE opening dance choreographed by Ms. Bauch, I have been very interested in seeing more.

  11. It’s my birthday this weekend, and getting tickets to go see Pina in 3D would be a wonderful surprise as I LOVE dance and the trailer is unreal!!! Thank you!!!

  12. This film is EXCELLENT! Go – just go. And thank you, bloggingla, for the pair of tickets.
