Art from found “porn acetates”, art show and reception Sat. 8/6

Fugue State by Zack Stadel
Fugue State by Zack Stadel, Untitled #02, printer's ink, acetate, masking tape, cardstock

Interesting concept. ┬áCull old acetates from vintage porn, rework with a little mat board, printers ink and such then voila a new piece of art. ┬áThis is the subject of an art exhibit and artists reception I’ve been invited to this weekend. Sounds titillating enough now if I can free up my calender…and be in the Glasell Park area.

Personal note explaining the art and inviting me to attend after the jump.

Hi Fraz-
I just wanted to let you know about an opening this Saturday at a new
(small) space in Glassell Park, which otherwise would probably not
make it on your radar. It’s some painted sculptures and a collection
of found printing proofs on acetate culled from the porn industry. I
got my MFA at Art Center in 2004 and nominally work in sculpture and
painting, but you know, push those categorical boundaries
around–hence one of the origins for the title of the show, Fugue
State, a loss or forgetting of identity. Anyway, here’s some images
of recent work: http://zackstadel.com/ and if you find those
interesting, I hope you’ll stop by the opening. (Thanks for making it
this far in any case!)
Regards,
Zack
