Win Tix to The Books with Black Heart Procession on Monday

I can’t believe what an amazing pairing this is. I first saw The Books a long time ago when they opened for Califone at the Getty Museum. Their moody, glitchy, echo-filled compositions are part intensely detailed instrumentation and, the other half, comprised of a vast library of samples. The result is a meditative, slowly unfurling blossom of sound and fascinating vocals.

Combine that with the moody noir-rock of the Black Heart Procession (think Tom Waits on quaaludes in an echo chamber)  and you have a show that, conceptually as well as in execution, should be absolutely amazing.

Wanna go? We’ve got tickets.  This show’ll wipe the typtophan haze from your eyes.

To win, tell me the most mindblowing pairing of indie-rock acts you can think of. We’ll pick a few lucky winners to go experience the show.

Info on the show is here.

  1. Always loved when I saw Arcade Fire with David Byrne. What a rad combo of acts.

Dream act would be seeing Local Natives open for Unicorns (RIP). God they were so good :(

  2. Can’t really think of a great indie-rock pairing but it would be great just to see Tom Waits paired with some quaaludes and an echo chamber lol.

  3. How about if CocoRosie and Kings of Convenience did a Double Duo show and swapped partners? (accidentally sexy, srry;)

Or if Animal Collective teamed up with Band of Horses and did a Farmers Menangerie tour?

Beach House and Deerhunter? Edwarde Sharpe and Fitz? Fever Ray and Little Dragon? The xx and taken by trees? I’d flip out to catch ANY of those lineups, especially if they did a Collab Set!

While I’m dreaming, I might as well add… I’ve no plans on Monday night. Can I get an Amen? Halellujah! Praise our Zombie Savior :) I haven’t seen the Books since my Rebirthday in 2006! Bless you, Lucinda, for shinin yr bookish light out there into the dark interwebz ;)
