Koo Koo Boo Hoo

I went to my local Koo Koo Roo in the Villa Marina Marketplace the other day, and, as the photo indicates, the place is now empty, with a “For Lease” sign in the window.  That’s too bad — I think Koo Koo Roo has good chicken and turkey for quick food, as well as good sides if one chooses carefully.

I did some research, and saw on Yelp that the Toluca Lake location has closed.  One commenter there wrote that all the locations are closing as well.

A few steps away from the Marina del Rey location is a Panda Express.  That doesn’t help me, but this particular Panda may reap the benefits of Koo Koo Gone.

  1. Happened to me too. Went by not long ago and discovered they had closed their doors. Not sure how long the place was closed but I think all the Koo Koo Roo places are closing around LA (or are they?). Too bad, like you say, they had some good meal choices. I’ll have to find a new local place for chicken and creamed spinach.

  2. Yeah, apparently Koo Koo Roo is going the way of the dodo. But you were right next to Aunt Kizzy’s Back Porch, so I think that solves all food problems right there.

  3. @marshall — Aunt Kizzy’s moved a couple of miles away, to Wash. Blvd. I have to confess, I have never been. It’s on the list!

  4. I’m glad Koo Koo Roo is gone. Dry, cardboard-like and expensive chicken isn’t my thing. I do miss Aunt Kizzy’s, though.
