Win Tix to Rogue Wave Tomorrow at the El Rey!

This is one of my favorite recent discoveries to date. I first heard “Asleep At Heaven’s Gate” in late ’07 and could have sworn blind they were from Wales or something, but in fact their rippling, lush, orchestral post-rock sound comes from Oakland CA. We’re giving away a pair of tix to their show tomorrow, and to win, just leave a comment telling me your favorite new music you can’t stop listening to. I’ll contact the winner by email tonight, so be sure to keep your eyes on your inbox.

  1. My favorite new music I’ve been listening to lately is the new Horse Feathers album, Thistled Spring. It’s really peaceful, but has the powerful emotions to keep your interest. Beautiful singing and really great orchestration. It reminds me of simple times. Of course the new Rogue Wave album has been on repeat as well!

  2. Of the Blue Color of the Sky, the new Ok Go album! I love the harmonies in This Too Shall Pass, it is reminiscent of Bob Marley’s Mr. Brown.

  3. Volcano Choir! It’s beautiful, complex, and keeps my interest. And, of course, I’m a fan of anything Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) does…

appreciate it for the same reason I love Rogue Wave, I think :) Would love tickets!

(plus I just finished my last week of undergrad classes ever – wahoo! tix would make a kickass congratulatory prize ;) )

  4. Regina Spektor’s version of Radiohead’s “No Surprises”.
Interesting take and so beautiful too!
I’d love to check out Rogue Wave and add their stuff to the list of new tracks to download!
