A subway station? Here? Such a debate would have been absurd at a sleepy little corner like Wilshire & Crenshaw.
The year was 1934.

Ohhhh. Good one.
That mansion behind the trees on the left would later stand in as the home of Norma Desmond in Billy Wilder’s 1950 Classic Sunset Blvd. Also, the Los Altos apartment building on the left, is where newspaper magnate, William Randolph Hearst would stay while in Los Angeles.
Shame that those Wilshire Blvd. lanterns only still exist on a small stretch west of Alvarado.
Wow, it’s weird to recognize the Los Altos from my present-day drives down the boulevard, and the house from the film. Good eye, Walt.
Not only there will be a debate, but the NIBYISM will be often be driven by racism and classism.
