I’m Jack. I am 14 and I live for Coachella every year. I saw the lineup for this year and I was ecstatic. But on the 22nd, when they started to sell tickets, they were only selling 3 day passes this year. This was a major bummer for me because I have gone to Coachella for the past three years with my dad. It has kind of been our father son bonding thing that we would do every year. This year we cant afford to go because it would cost us three times as much to go. Since I’m not 21 I cant go see many of these bands, because I’m not old enough to get into venues that they play at. For instance, Tiesto rarely comes to America. Anytime he is anywhere near my home I cant ever go to his shows because you must be 21 or older. All of my friends and I had made plans and figured out whose dads were going to go and whose weren’t. But we (my dad and I) didn’t have the money for our tickets this year so I have been running around the house trying to find things to sell for money for my ticket. The problem is I don’t have many things to sell (I am 14 after all). So right now I’m at the point where if I don’t win the tickets I’m not going and I will just hear about it from all my friends. Help me Metblogs, you’re my only hope.

My friend Jack Balder really needs these tickets. Times have been hard for his family recently and he and his dad need something to cheer them up. It just wouldn’t be the same without them this year. :( Please help them Metblogs.

Alright look, Jack Balder IS NOT cheating. I am Jack Balder’s Mom. Yes, he is really 14 and has been going to Coachella for 4 years with my husband as their “father son” tradition. Jack plays guitar and is really into music. He and my husband talk for hours on end about music and share the same love for live music. We were so disappointed to learn that the tickets were only sold this year in 3 day bundles. Selling them this way put them out of reach for our family effectively ending a tradition for them. Jack has been at his wits end trying to come op with ways to make “Coachella money”. He told me yesterday that he wanted to sell his amps, and other music related equipment to get there. I was stunned as these are some of his prized possessions. Jack has lots of friends – especially those on the cross country team who can vouch for his love of techno. Last Fall they went to Oregon for a CC Meet and my husband chaperoned. He was the only parent that let the kids listen to whatever music they wanted to. The rented suburban was christened: “The Rave Ride”. Techno was blasting in the Suburban and the kids were rockin’ the ride back and forth. My husband loves music and loves to share it with the kids. These High School kids had more fun in the truck than at the meet! I respectfully request that these two tickets be given to Jack Balder so that my husband Mike and my son can go this year. You would make me the happiest Mom and wife. I would hate to see these two be unable to attend. Thanks so much for your consideration.

I would like to say a few words about the Balder family and why Jack should receive these tickets. I have know Jack’s parents for 20 years and they live for there boys. Their lives revolve around them. With Jack’s father traveling for his job so much the time they do get to spend together is spent doing the one thing they love the most MUSIC! If it were in there power to get the tickets themselves they would have already done so. Please give Jack the tickets so he can continue the father son tradition that they have enjoyed for the last few years.

As an active member of Colleges Against Cancer, I would just like to say that Heather Johnson is an excellent fundraiser for Relay for Life. She helps the American Cancer Society by fundraising so they can actively try to find a cure for cancer. She has also worked for LADT. Her work for LADT has helped many people who would otherwise not get around as easily have the option of getting around. Personally, being a poor college student without a car, I wouldn’t have gotten around as easily if it weren’t for the LADT. Heather has helped me out of many tricky situations, gotten me home when I was lost and didn’t know which bus to take. She tries her best to help anyone she can. She deserves having something in return for all the great work that she’s done.

I went to college and roomed with Jack Balder’s father, Mike. The kid needs the tickets cuz, trust me, it’s the only shot he has at a somewhat normal childhood. I don’t know the majority of the bands listed above [I'm sure Jack does,] but I do know that a grizzly bear, a frightened rabbit and deer tick combined would make a better father figure than Mike.

Sure, his Mom does her best, between prison stays, but poor Jack is mostly left to fend for himself. The survival skills, alone, that he’s acquired at past Coachellas will stand the lad well in the future. You just never know when you’ll need the skills of pushing your way through a crowd of stoners, or pissing out the window of a moving car. The boy has come a long way, but his education is not complete. One more Coachella just might do it.

Yes, Jack’s story is a common one: boy raised amongst wolves, or in this case the wolf-laden wasteland that is southern California. But, do not snuff this young man’s dreams of becoming a tatoo artist for mimes, he can make it if you’ll only share the bounty that is 2 tickets to Coachella, or as Eddie Money once sang: two tickets to paradise.

i was alone in my one man wolfpack until i was joind by FOURTEEN year old jack balder who definatley deserves these tickets because he’s been tellling me about how much fun he had at it the last couple years since i met him this summer

and its unfair to deprive him of what for the last couple years has been the best time of his life

I am a team captain on the cross country team with Jack Balder, and I have gotten to know him, and I know that he’s a great kid. He always has a smile on his face, and he helps his fellow freshmen with things like the warm up drills we do every day before practice. He and his dad are extremely involved with the cross country team, and they are part of an awesome family. I am not going to lower myself, as some of you have, to the point of degrading the “competition”, or lie and make up a sob story about Jack. His reasons for deserving these tickets should stand on their own, without having to insult everyone else needlessly or lie about them. He talks about Coachella constantly, and if nothing else, his zeal for life and his passion for music certainly make him deserving of these tickets. Thanks! :)

Coachella is on my list of things to do before I die! I’ve been trying to win tickets because I can’t afford to go. I had the money set aside but then spent it on my other list items… PLEASE PLESSE PLEASE! I am a broke college student with tons of medical bills.

I think Jack Balder should win. Well, technically, I should win, but that’s not gonna happen (even though it would make MY Freshman son VERY happy for me to win & take him with me, but I digress…)

I personally think that there’s something off with this Jack Balder kid. He says he’s too busy with school and doesn’t “have time” to give back to the community in his video (and yes, I did watch that) and that’s just, in my opinion, an excuse. Everyone has school, a job, but no one here is making excuses about why they’re not giving back or help the community. Never mind that, because that’s only a part of the big picture, but there is something seriously off about this Jack Balder kid that just rubs me the wrong way. And I usually have a decent intuition. Just saying.

First off, saying that you usually having a decent intuition in an attempt to support one side of an argument is both a logical fallacy and an invalidly biased statement.

Second, why do you think that there is something seriously off about one of my best friends? Sure, he isnt the prettiest fellow and is not exactly a rhodes scholar, but you should still be ashamed of yourself for resorting to a tactic as crappy as smearing the other side of the contest in an attempt to elevate yours. Dont you dare talk bad about my friend without a valid reason to do so. Jack is a kind and noble individual that lives his life with purpose and integrity, and I refuse to let ANYBODY try to defame him and portray him as something less.

Third, Jack never said that he didn’t support his community, he simply said that he hasnt ever done something like raise money for cancer. He is actually rather involved in our community. Additionally, our schedule is usually wake up at 6, get to school 7:15, start practice at 3, get home at 5:30, do homework until 9:30 or so, and then go to bed. Most saturdays are spent at meets. He tries to get in as much service as he can with his minimal free time but he is truly incapable of pursuing a cause as noble as cancer research at this time.

Fourth, I would like to commend Heather Johnson on HER raising money for cancer. I know multiple people that have it in some form or another and I really appreciate what she is doing.

Now, not only are Jack’s and Mr. Balders trips riding on these tickets, but myself, my father, and two of our other friends trips are as well, and none of the four of us have EVER been to coachella before. My dad was the only other adult going and he will not go if he is the only adult in attendance.He said iIt was something about it being irresponsible to take on that much responsibility. But anyway, there are not only two trips to Coachella riding on these tickets; there are six.

In conclusion, I am imploring, beseeching, begging you on my hands and knees. Please give these tickets to Jack Balder. You would brighten the days of four future productive members of society AND those of two of their guardians. :)

Actually, intuition is purely subjective and IS itself biased. I have a decent intuition when it comes to getting the wrong vibe from people. There is NO such thing as “invalidly biased”. There is no “VALIDITY” when it comes to a bias. -_- A bias cannot be “invalid”, as it is purely a judgment made by the biased person. There is no such THING as an “invalid bias”. And there is NO logical fallacy. I wasn’t arguing anything. How is me stating that I feel that there is something off with this Jack guy from my intuition LOGICALLY FALSE? To me what I said was pretty clear: my intuition told me that Jack seemed a little off. Please explain to me how that is logically false? Actually first explain to me how that isn’t logic in itself.

In addition, I can say anything I want about someone else. There IS something off about Jack that I just can’t deal with. It bothers me. And DID I try to elevate myself in my post? I’m not even in the running for the tickets. I’ve read through the comments and made my own judgments, but it is NOT your place to tell me what I dare and do not dare to say. The fact that you believe Jack is all that you say he is doesn’t change the fact that I personally feel that there’s just something off about him. I HAVE a valid reason to state that. Through personal experience of just getting a feel of a person (although the internet is just a bit far-fetched, although still do-able)I have come to my own conclusions.

Don’t try to sound smarter than you actually are, kid. You might end up looking more stupid.
